RED ‧ OOLONG
What is Red Oolong

So What Exactly Is Red Oolong?

Not a Black Tea, Nor an Ordinary Oolong Red oolong is oxidized as high as 80%, close to black tea, yet it keeps the kill-green step of oolong tea. This gives it both the sweet smoothness of black tea and the deep rhyme of oolong — the best of two tea types coexisting perfectly in one cup.
Found Only in Luye, in All of Taiwan Developed in 2008 by the Taitung branch of the Tea Research and Extension Station, it is a cultivar unique to Luye, Taitung. Take it away from Luye's terroir — the rolling hills, the eastern sunlight, the rift-valley temperature swings — and this flavor simply can't be made.
The New Generation's Favorite Taiwanese Tea Warm and never bitter or astringent, even sweeter cold-brewed, easy for beginners yet rich in layered flavor — red oolong has become the Taiwanese tea most beloved by younger drinkers in recent years, and the best introductory choice to give a friend who "finds tea hard to understand."

The Pride of Luye, Taitung

A Rising Star Born in 2008
Developed by the Taitung branch of the Tea Research and Extension Station, it is a cultivar unique to Luye, Taitung. Combining the local rolling hills with the day-night temperature swing, it creates a singular flavor that holds both the sweetness of black tea and the deep rhyme of oolong. Its oxidation level is close to black tea, yet it retains the kill-green step of oolong — a star cultivar embraced by younger drinkers in recent years.

Tasting Notes

Heavy-Roast Honey Rhyme · Natural Farming

Amber-Orange · Lovely Hot or Cold
High oxidation (around 80%) paired with heavy roasting produces a rich roasted aroma and a deep palate. The liquor glows bright as amber, mellow and round on entry, with an alluring ripe-fruit rhyme and a faint honey aroma. Whether savored hot or cold-brewed in summer, it shows its sweet, long-lingering layers.

Careful Cultivation · Precise Processing
Grown by natural farming with organic fertilizer, letting the tea trees grow in a toxin-free environment. The tea-making process is exacting — from sun-withering to heavy roasting, flexibly adjusted to the weather, all in pursuit of the finest flavor.

Flavor Profile

Layered Flavor, Unpacked

Top Note | Warm Roasted Rhyme At the first sip, the warm roasted aroma from the heavy roast leads the way — steady and never harsh, like a ray of sunlight on a winter afternoon.
Heart Note | Ripe-Fruit Honey Sweetness As the liquor glides across the tongue, a rich ripe-fruit rhyme blooms in the mouth — like ripe honey-peach mingled with longan honey, round and never cloying, sweet with depth.
Base Note | Oolong's Deep Rhyme After swallowing, oolong's solid underlying rhyme emerges, with a sweetness that returns long and warm. This is what makes red oolong special — black tea can't give you this depth, and ordinary oolong can't give you this sweet smoothness.
─── COLD BREW ───

Highly Recommended Cold-Brewed

Add 6g of tea to 600ml of cold water and let it stand in the fridge for 6–8 hours.
Cold-brewed, red oolong's sweetness is even more pronounced and the astringency drops to nearly zero —
the most soothing natural drink for summer, and a delightful surprise for guests.
