MOUNTAIN ‧ EMPEROR
Why The Emperor

Why It's Called the "Mountain Emperor"

I
The Sovereign of Dayuling Dayuling is already a top-tier growing region for Taiwanese high-mountain tea, and the Mountain Emperor is the highest grade selected from within it — using competition-grade standards to keep only the finest, retaining only the most essential part. Among all of Dayuling, the Mountain Emperor is the No.1.
II
Forged by Extreme Frost, Rain, and Cold At 2,300 meters, the tea trees endure frost, rain, and severe cold year-round. The harsh environment forces out a stronger survival mechanism — thicker leaves, denser gel-like body, and a fiercer mountain-qi. This top quality born of adversity cannot be replicated by technique.
III
Nearly Thirty Percent of the Weight Lost in Refinement Coarse stems and old leaves are removed by hand, one by one, until the finished tea is only about seventy percent of the raw material. That thirty percent of "loss" buys a top-grade liquor with no off-flavors, exceptional thickness and smoothness, and undiminished strength through nine steeps.
Emperor of the Mountain

The Emperor of the Mountains

The Finest Forging by Frost, Rain, and Cold
Having weathered the trials of high-altitude frost, rain, and bitter cold, it grows an extraordinary Mountain-Emperor character. Its fearlessness in the face of cold transforms into a fierce, verdant fresh fragrance and a mellow, sweet rhyme, earning it the name "Emperor of the Mountains." This rare treasure is truly worthy of a connoisseur's collection and careful savoring.

Refined Craft

Competition-Grade Selection · The Ultimate Refinement

Fragrant Through Nine Steeps
From the pickers' careful plucking to the tea master's meticulous making, every step strives for the utmost. Through a strict "competition-grade" selection, stems and coarse leaves are removed, keeping only the outstanding essence. It holds up to water for a long time, re-steepable up to 9 times in a row, each steep giving off an alluring ripe-fruit floral aroma.

Refined tea leaf comparison

Competition-Grade Standard · Keeping Only the Finest

Why do the leaves look more finely broken?

What you've received are not fragments but a premium product that has gone through a "refining craft." Following the strict standards of competition tea, we remove coarse stems, old leaves, and flawed leaves by hand, keeping only the most tender, most intact leaf flesh.

Refined Tea vs. Ordinary Tea
Appearance It shows one leaf and one bud; with the connecting stems removed, it looks more finely broken, but in fact it is the very essence.
Taste With the bitterness of coarse stems removed, the liquor is purer, more delicate, and more mellow.
Re-steeping The leaf-flesh essence releases more steadily, holding its flavor across many steeps.

A commitment at the level of several thousand NT dollars per catty — all for the purest tea character we can give you.

Dayuling's highest specification

Competition-grade refinement is time-consuming, with only a small amount finished each season

Dayuling's yield is already scarce, and after the Mountain Emperor's competition-grade refinement the quantity is more limited still.
Tea-savvy regulars reorder every season, the allocation for public sale is very small — if you see it in stock, we suggest taking it right away.
