Sijichun is hardy and highly disease-resistant, allowing 6–8 harvests a year. Among them, the winter-grown "Winter Sprout" (dongpian) — slowed by the cold and the low temperatures — carries less bitterness and astringency and far more clean sweetness and delicate florals, widely regarded as the finest treasure of the entire year.
